Instant Checkmate
Criminal-record and social-profile search option.
View RecordsCheck a screening company’s BBB profile and distinguish accreditation, ratings and reviews from proof of report accuracy or suitability for your purpose.
Search BBB’s official service for the company name and match its location and business identity to the provider offering the check. A seal in an advertisement does not establish that the advertiser is the same business on the profile. RecordsLookupVG has not verified or endorsed a particular provider on this page.
| Signal | BBB’s explanation | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Accreditation | Voluntary status tied to BBB standards | Government approval of a screening report. |
| Letter rating | Based on complaint history, responses, transparency and other factors | That every returned criminal record is accurate. |
| Customer reviews | Separate from the letter-rating calculation | That a star average is the BBB letter grade. |
| Not accredited | May mean the business did not apply, did not qualify or chose not to participate | Automatic proof of misconduct. |
BBB says it is a nonprofit, not a government regulator. Its FAQ was checked September 29, 2026; verify the provider’s current profile at the time of purchase.
Use BBB’s own search rather than relying only on a promotional badge link.
Check the name/location against the invoice, website and company providing the report. Resolve a mismatch before paying.
Read the issue, company response and resolution status. Separate a billing complaint from a claim about inaccurate record matching; neither should be reduced to a single star number.
Ask which sources/jurisdictions are searched and how a possible same-name record is verified. Accreditation does not supply this missing product specification.
Request the total charge, recurring terms and refund/cancellation policy in writing. A seal does not tell you whether the displayed price renews.
Ask whether the provider supports the intended regulated use. FTC employer guidance addresses consent, report use and adverse-action obligations separately from business accreditation.
